If you have a second home or cabin that is being used primarily for seasonal purposes maybe you want to be billed less often each year. NWE offers a seasonal billing rate for customers whose electricity use does not exceed seven months per year. On this rate you are billed three times per year for your energy use on a May-July-September or June-August-October basis. The costs for energy and service charges on this rate are the same as the monthly rate but for customers whose electric use is minimal due to seasonal visits only, NWE offers this extra convenience of paying three times per year instead of twelve. Remember that energy is still available during the winter months and its use will be billed in the spring.
Because higher than average electric bills are associated with cold or hot weather that we experience each year, NWE offers a budget payment option. With NWE’s budget plan you can spread your year’s electric payments evenly throughout all 12 months. This makes budgeting easier because you know exactly what each month’s electric payment will be, no matter what the season.
If you leave each winter to warmer climates - or if you’re going on vacation, we can send your NWE electric bill to you destination’s address. Just call NWE and let us know where to send your monthly bill and remember to call us when you return. We could estimate your electric bills for the months that you will be gone if you prefer to prepay your bill for those months.
NWE will furnish,
serve and maintain a high-pressure sodium light
fixture mounted on a NWE pole or your meter pole. These
lights operate such that they are on from dusk to dawn only. There is a monthly service charge for NWE to
maintain these fixtures and the energy is billed at a reduced rate.
To apply you must fill out a Service Contract completing the first page of the
form as well as the Unmetered Yard or Street Lighting section on page two.

Sometimes trees grow into power lines or their size and location could cause a threat to power lines. If it appears that these trees must be cut, call NWE. We will help by making sure that your tree removal can be done safely without endangering anyone or interfering with your electric service.
If you’re planting new trees near power lines, call NWE for advice on choosing the proper type of tree and location to maintain proper distances from both overhead and underground power-lines.
If any member of your household is on life support equipment that relies on electricity, contact NWE. In the event of a power outage, you can be placed on a high priority list for restoration of electrical service by calling NWE and letting us know you are on life sustaining equipment. We urge you to make arrangements for auxiliary power if you use life-sustaining equipment because some electrical power interruptions are unavoidable.
When
starting building, landscaping or gardening projects. NWE urges you to ALWAYS call Diggers
Hotline before you start. If there
are underground electric lines in the area we will locate and mark them within three working days prior to the start of your
project. Remember
safety first so before you dig call Diggers Hotline at 1-800-242-8511 or

TV and radio interference can be caused by many different things. Perhaps it’s one of your other appliances creating problems or maybe it’s a problem with NWE’s distribution system. If you’re not sure, call NWE. A representative will investigate the problem to find the source. If it’s part of our system we’ll make the necessary changes to clear up the interference.
