Today’s more efficient appliances
can save up to one third of the operating costs compared to older, less
efficient models. Because of this difference there can be an attractive
payback for investing in a more energy efficient electric water heaters
and ETS units.
The energy guide label required on most major appliances compares operating costs to other units on the market. Use this label as a guide to determine whether the extra investment in an energy efficient appliance saves enough in annual operating cost over less efficient units.
Major home appliances have an average life span
of 10-15 years so its important to select a unit that will not only meet your
needs, but will save you money for years to come. Don't forget to contact
Wisconsin Focus On Energy if the appliance information your looking for is not
shown here.
Water heaters have their efficiency rated in the form of
Energy Factor (EF). The higher the energy factor, the more efficient the unit
is. Thus, the lower the operating cost. NWE makes buying the most efficient
electric water heater easier by offering rebates on the most efficient models.

An electric thermal storage (ETS) heating system is an excellent way to make your existing or new electric heating system competitive with any other source of fuel. ETS heating systems are 100% efficient and safe.
For homes with existing electric heat, ETS heating units can be added to a portion of the home to cut heating costs by as much as 50%. Because of an ETS unit heater’s inherent design, the home can be much more comfortable at a fraction of the cost.
