New Solar/Wind Construction
For Northwestern Wisconsin Electric (NWE) customers who are considering the addition of utility interconnected generation (solar or wind), please refer to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) Chapter 119 (see link below) which specifies the requirements for the design and installation of the system as well as the process of interconnecting to the electric utility. Customers should have their installing contractor submit the appropriate Standard Distributed Generation Application Form, applicabel application fee, and the Distributed Generation Interconnection Agreement to NWE. NWE will review these materials and notify the installing contractor when the requirements for interconnection are met in accordance with PSC 119. All required fees shall be paid prior to any commission scheduling.
For interconnected systems that qualify, the metering at the customer’s existing electric service will be done on a Net Meter basis in accordance with NWE’s tariffs as filed with the WI PSC. NWE works with installing contractors for proper (safe) installation of these systems. NWE is not involved in the design, installation, economic analysis or incentives of these systems. This information should be obtained from a qualified consultant or contractor.
